Florida Vision Technology is officially celebrating its 20th anniversary. When I started in February 2000, the assistive technology industry was young, and there were just a handful of manufacturers. Opening the business felt right, and I was ready to jump in. The biggest challenge, in the beginning, was getting a used bulky desk into the shed in my backyard, which my daughters named "Lesa Berg Kretschmer World Headquarters." Three years later, in June of 2003, we moved into our first offsite location and opened a low vision superstore!
Our Past has Prepared us for an Exciting Future
A lot has changed in the past twenty years, but more importantly, a lot has stayed the same. Looking back on the past two decades in the business, the stories of opportunities where we've played a significant role for our clients is heartwarming. From helping a blind child navigate their new school campus to assisting an elderly veteran with low vision, read his mail, FVT has been there. Florida Vision Technology's focus is on improving the lives of the visually impaired and blind with custom solutions to help in school, at work, and with leisure activities. Over the past 20 years, Florida Vision Technology has employed 30-plus, visually impaired, and blind staff. Along the way, we've worked through some challenging times, too—9/11, the financial crisis/recession, manufacturer downsizing, and hurricanes. Florida Vision Technology began with a focus on the assistive technology industry, including hardware and software solutions that foster independence in our client's lives. We continue to enjoy a strong wave of growth and innovation, and this past year we received top sales awards from two of our partner companies.
To our clients: I'm so grateful and honored to work with our clients. Thank you for your trust in our team and our abilities to help you achieve your goals and vision of success. The people that we’ve met and worked with at our client organizations continuously enrich the Florida Vision Technology team. Many of these people have become friends or advisors, allowing us to grow and learn individually, and, as a company. Thank you for your unwavering loyalty and referrals.
To our team members: Being in business for 20 years requires having incredible, talented people in your organization. I am grateful for the unique opportunity to work with a group of passionate, caring, and patient colleagues. Your willingness to give of yourselves is extraordinary and admired.
To our partners: I would also like to recognize our global partners that collaborate with us to deliver incredible products that make a positive, sustainable impact in our client's lives. We have the privilege to work alongside the top manufacturers from around the globe. All of you are an integral part of our team, and we are proud to work with you.
Thank you for an epic 20 years and here's to celebrating the next successful chapter together. We begin our third decade with open arms as we anticipate what lies ahead. We appreciate you all for being part of our lives.
All the Best,
Lesa Berg Kretschmer
